Cardiologists from Objective Medical Systems review their customized EHR

Cardiologists Dr. Peter Fail (L) and Dr. Vinod Nair review EHR data in the OMS suite.

Objective Medical Systems President and Chief Software Architect, Dr. Vinod Nair, and Chief Privacy Officer, Dr. Peter Fail, have been selected as New Orleans CityBusiness Health Care Heroes for 2016, placing them among the top medical professionals in the Greater New Orleans area.

Dr. Nair and Dr. Fail, interventional cardiologists at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), have been recognized as Health Care Heroes for their innovative work in developing their own state-of-the-art cardiovascular software suite, a groundbreaking electronic health records and diagnostics system designed exclusively for cardiology practices, as well as for their commitment to community involvement. For decades, both have practiced cardiology at CIS, where they gained expert knowledge and experience, which they were able to put into the development of the software.

Since 2007, New Orleans CityBusiness has recognized Health Care Heroes annually to honor deserving health care leaders in the New Orleans area. Honorees are selected based on industry achievement and community involvement that have set the pace for the overall community. The recognition program also places its main emphasis on nomination letters received from the community.

The OMS cardiovascular information system allows cardiologists an easy way to record and compare data to efficiently manage vital patient heart care information, streamline their work, and reduce any potential error. In most cases, this information can help to determine whether a critical prescription or procedure could save someone’s life. The niche technology is quickly being integrated at many hospitals and clinics, such as Terrebonne General Medical Center and Cardiovascular Institute of the South, among others.

Drs. Nair and Fail, along with the rest of this year’s honorees, were recognized at a special ceremony on Monday, May 16th at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
